New Category Introduced in 2026

This category was introduced as part of major Express Entry changes announced in February 2026, when IRCC added three new occupation-based categories to better target skilled professionals already working in Canada.

To be eligible for the Senior Managers with Canadian Work Experience category, candidates must have at least 12 months of Canadian work experience within the past three years in one of the following roles under the National Occupation Classification (NOC) system:

  • Senior managers in construction, transportation, production, and utilities
  • Senior managers in trade, broadcasting, and other services
  • Senior managers in health, education, social and community services, and membership organizations
  • Senior managers in financial, communications, and other business services

These targeted categories help Canada address labor shortages and retain experienced professionals already contributing to the economy.

So far in 2026, most Express Entry draws have focused on candidates already living and working in Canada, particularly those with:

What This Means for Immigration Candidates

The latest Express Entry draw shows that Canada is continuing to prioritize skilled professionals who already have work experience in the country. This approach helps the government retain talent that is already integrated into the Canadian labor market.

For immigration candidates, gaining Canadian work experience or a provincial nomination can significantly improve the chances of receiving an invitation to apply for permanent residence.

What This Means for Pakistani Immigration Applicants

Canada’s latest Express Entry draws highlight a growing focus on skilled professionals who already have work experience or specialized expertise. For skilled individuals in Pakistan, this presents a valuable opportunity to prepare strategically for Canadian immigration.

Many Pakistani professionals working in fields such as management, healthcare, finance, education, construction, and business services may qualify for Express Entry programs if they meet the eligibility requirements. By improving factors like language test scores, work experience, education credentials, and CRS points, applicants can significantly increase their chances of receiving an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada.

Canada remains one of the most attractive destinations for Pakistani immigrants due to its strong economy, high quality of life, world-class education system, and clear immigration pathways for skilled workers.
